Terms of service
Last updated October 12, 2026
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between Shiftpier Ltd (“Shiftpier”, “we”) and the business that opens an account (“you”). By creating a business in Shiftpier you confirm that you may act for that business and that you accept these terms. People you invite use Shiftpier under your account and must follow the Acceptable use policy.
What Shiftpier does, and does not do
Shiftpier records clock-ins and breaks, schedules shifts, tracks time off, works out hours, overtime and gross pay from the rules and rates you set, and delivers payslip files you upload.
Shiftpier is not a payroll service. It does not pay your staff, withhold or file taxes, or move money. It is not legal, tax or accounting advice.
You are the employer. You are responsible for following wage-and-hour, leave, record-keeping and privacy laws that apply to you, for choosing the right overtime and leave settings, and for checking hours and pay before you run payroll. The calculations are a tool to help you, not a guarantee that a particular result meets the law where you operate.
Your account and your team
- Keep your password and your sign-in email secure. You are responsible for what is done through your account and by people you give a role to.
- Only add people who work for you, and tell them how you use Shiftpier, including location checks at clock-in if your plan has them. Get any consent the law requires.
- Give accurate information, and keep roles up to date when someone leaves.
Trial, plans and payment
New businesses get a 14-day free trial with no card. To keep using Shiftpier after the trial, choose a paid plan. Prices are shown on the pricing section of our website and depend on the plan and the number of people who clock in.
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance. Payment is taken by our payment provider, Polar, which acts as merchant of record and adds any sales tax or VAT that applies. If a payment fails we will tell you, and we may limit the account until it is settled.
We may change prices. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice, and a change applies from your next billing period. Cancelling and refunds are covered in the Refund and cancellation policy.
Your data
The records you and your team put into Shiftpier belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them to provide the service, as described in the Privacy policy. We handle your team’s personal information on your behalf and on your instructions.
You can export your records while your account is open and for a period after it closes.
Acceptable use
You and your team must follow the Acceptable use policy. We may suspend an account that breaks it, that is used unlawfully, or that puts the service or other customers at risk. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first.
Our service
We work to keep Shiftpier available and accurate, and we fix problems we find. We may change or improve features. If we remove something you rely on, we will give reasonable notice.
Shiftpier, its software, design and name belong to us. These terms give you the right to use the service while your account is in good standing; they do not transfer ownership of it.
Ending the agreement
You can cancel at any time. We may end the agreement with 30 days’ notice, or sooner for a serious or repeated breach of these terms. After the agreement ends you can still export your records for a period, as described in the Privacy policy.
Disclaimers and limits
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including that the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
To the extent the law allows, neither of us is liable to the other for lost profits or indirect losses, and our total liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
General
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
Shiftpier is used in many places. Wherever you are, any protection the law of your own country or state gives you that cannot be signed away still applies, and nothing in these terms takes it away. You remain responsible for following the employment, pay, leave and privacy laws of every place where your team works.
We may update these terms. For changes that matter we will tell business owners by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Shiftpier after that means you accept the new terms.
